February Happenings

Ah yes, I’ve successfully managed to not have a single post in January since there isn’t much going on. Or is there?

Total Mayhem Joker

They did it again, THEY DID IT AGAIN! Just like last year in how Looping Dragon became El Diabo, the name of Six Flags Great Adventure’s 2016 coaster addition was changed from Total Mayhem to Joker. I’d like to think that RMC, who fabricates the track for these S&S Free Spin style coasters, simply made too much purple and green track when fabricating Discovery Kingdom’s Joker and Six Flags decided to run with it.

February Happenings

Seaside Heights December 2015After spending Saturday at Six Flags Great Adventure for their Holiday in the Park festivities, I decided to ride down to Seaside Heights on Sunday to check out what was going on and walk the boardwalk before heading back north.

One thing I noticed while driving down was that there were a lot of houses in the process of being raised, mostly in the towns between Mantaloking and Seaside Heights that took a beating during Sandy back in 2012. There’s actually several in the neighborhood that our “shore house” is in that are being raised as well. Our summer house was originally constructed several feet above ground and escaped major flooding damage unlike many older homes in the area.

Great Adventure Holiday in the Park

Check out the 2018 Holiday in the Park trip report

I made my final visit to Six Flags Great Adventure this year on December 19th, 2015; literally the first time I can say that I went to Six Flags in December. So, this winter has been super mild in the northeast with temperatures in the mid 50s every day with some days topping out even warmer. Only a couple weeks ago it was so warm that I went biking with shorts and a t-shirt; something I haven’t been able to do since September and it looks like Christmas Eve is supposed to be in the 70s! Unfortunately December 19th wasn’t one of these warm days. Hell, it wasn’t even normal, rather colder than average with wind. Perfect. Of all the days..

Holiday in the Park Six Flags Great AdventureI was down at the summer house last Saturday to put things away, clean up leaves, and get stuff organized for the winter. It’s not too far from Six Flags from there, so I decided to take a quick trip over to the park to check out the Holiday in the Park festivities. The day called for light rain later on that night but I was sure that it wouldn’t based on practically every busted forecast this past year. Well…they were right, and I arrived at the park with something slightly heavier than drizzle falling.

Fright Fest Six Flags Great Adventure 2015On Sunday, October 25th, I headed over to Six Flags Great Adventure for my last trip to Fright Fest for the year. I actually went twice to Fright Fest in total with the other being on Friday, October 16th. I had bought a season pass during the Labor Day weekend sale and redeemed it on my first Fright Fest visit for a free upgrade to Gold. Now that I’ve entered the park twice with it, I’ve officially “paid off” my 2016 season pass before 2016. Actually, thinking about it, less than one visit would have done it since it’s like $70 for a single day gate admission and $25 for parking (!!!); my season pass was $83 and change total.
