NYC Snaps Up Part of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park

A major blow to Thor Equities came today as the city of New York purchased a one acre piece of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park for $11 million. Thor Equities had been “in contract” to buy the same piece of land for the aformentioned price, instead the city snatched it up before a deal went through. Goodbye Astroland

Astroland Amusement Park closed on Sunday and as far as everyone knows, it’s for good. Unlike last year, another year’s lease simply did not come to fruition. It’s sad seeing a piece of Coney Island history closing, especially when the lot may very well sit vacant next year while zoning is still an issue. The Goodbye Astroland
